Spec-R are proud to introduce the S1 sports series electric touring car kit. Build on the design ideas of the recently introduced R1 competition touring car the kit features a narrow lower chassis made from 2.5mm fibre glass, 2.0mm upper deck and 3.0mm shock towers. A slim transmission and motor mount design improves handling while a dual bellcrank steering makes for optimised steering geometry and corner handling. Included in the kit are a light rear gear differential, composite plastic/metal shock absorbers, plastic bulkheads and a red anodised aluminium motor mount.
Like 2013's , the S1 features a 50x zoom lens going from 24mm to 1200mm (35mm equivalent), but with an improved f2.8-5.6 aperture range instead of f2.9-6.5. There's a 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor behind the lens and a vari-angle 3-inch LCD and 0.2-inch electronic viewfinder for framing your shots (both with resolutions of 920K dots). And it's weather-sealed.
The Audi MMI infotainment system is superb, and the 6.5-inch colour screen has benchmark graphics and resolution. Disappointingly a reverse-view camera is a $600 option, though the S1 still remains cheaper than a Golf R and it exclusively adds standard leather and LED headlights.
